Not really sure why it didn't work but I took a regular micro usb cable plugged it into the back of the cradle it lit up (sorry blurry picture) and I had to remove my case (so I couldn't use it anyway) but it won't charge. It looks different like it has 4 connectors SMS not five on the inside of the micro usb.
I figured out was worth a shot since it was Samsung and all. Maybe I'll modify it open it up. It's definitely big enough for our phones.
On a different note my brothers xperia has a landscape cradle that I can put the GNex upright and charge on, works fine despite looking odd. That's how I got the idea to order this one
