I'm sure this is an ignorant post, but I tried doing some research and I'm not entirely sure...Are there any music apps that play music out of your google drive?
I plan on getting the 9 Pro XL and I'm having trouble deciding between the 128gb and the 256gb versions. The main reason for this is my music. I don't use Spotify or any of the streaming services for music because I prefer my own library. Therefore, I am currently relying on local storage (which currently occupies 57gb,) and because of that, I opted for the 256gb Pixel 7 Pro when I last purchased a phone.
I'm thinking there are three possible options:
1 - Use an app that is able to stream music from your Google Drive
I'm thinking maybe I pay the $2/month for the extra 100gb of Google Drive storage and host my music on there, with an app pulling the music from my Google Drive rather than using local storage. That would be $24/year, which would mean it would take 4 years to match the extra $100 difference between the 128gb and 256gb options.
2- Use a flash drive
Another possibility I thought of was simply having a small flash drive that I connect via USB-C and pointing my music app (that only uses local storage) to that USB-C source for the library, but I'm not entirely sure it would "remember" non-permanent storage, and I'm worried I've have to do a fresh scan of the entire library every time I wanted to use it.
3 - Connect two devices simultaneously to android auto
I don't think this is actually possible, but I am not sure. As far as I can tell, I can only actively connect to one device at a time.
Or does anyone else have alternative ideas (to allow for buying the 128gb without having to worry about music storage causing storage space concerns) that I haven't thought of? I miss removable storage!
