16GB or 32GB? Please help. Can't decide!!

I got the 16GB only because that is all TMobile offers. My Nexus 7 tablet is 32GB so I am able to store all my photos on there while my Nexus 5 I have them all uploaded on Google Drive because I can fit them but then I will only have about 2GB of space left.

I still stand by my 16 gig recommendation for you.
While extra storage is great, you are currently using a phone with minuscule memory and the 16 gig is a huge jump. Save your money ( you'll want it available when the Nexus 6 is announced in a few months ) :D

But the 32GB Nexus 5 will have a higher eBay resale value when he goes to sell it after picking up the shiny new Nexus 6.

Welcome. I have a 32GB Nexus 5 from last November. It has 22.99GB of free memory out of the total space of 26.76GB that was left after Android os. I have over 100 Apps and a few dozen pictures that go to the cloud and no personal videos. I have maybe 40 songs and one movie video that is really still in the google cloud.

Still I feel safer with a 32GB even after owning a 16GB Nexus 7 table (2012) that still has over half is storage free. However only you can make your choice but it comes down to how long you want to keep the N5 since pictures and music are how you fill them up.

It's a no-brainer, 32G. 16G is simply not enough, my Nexus 7 (2012) has 16G and I've run out of space on it, I've never had a problem with my 32G N5 or my previous phone, a 32G Galaxy Nexus.

Or, if you're like me and have everything in the cloud, and don't need 200 apps installed, save the 50 and buy some nice accessories.
I wish I lived in an area where the cloud was even remotely as fast and reliable as local storage. But sadly, like most people, I don't. Which is why I need local storage.

I love the cloud as a backup though. I have Dropbox and Box and Drive accounts and use them a lot.

There is no accessory more appealing than extra storage.

Tis quite nice... But you don't have to buy it directly into the device. For 1/2 the price of upgrading the N5 from the 16GB to the 32GB model (16GB gain), I gained an extra 48GB via a 64GB micro-stick that I can also use with my N7 tablets, and whatever phone replaces my N5.

Good thread. Plenty of solid arguments for both editions, with which the OP should be able to gauge his/her personal needs and which one offers the best ROI.

Yeah, I have those. I even reviewed one - http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...works-my-sloppy-meenova-sd-reader-review.html

And while it is certainly better than nothing, it is not remotely as useful as SD.

I looked at Amazon.com: Patriot USB 2.0 OTG SD/MicroSD Card Reader for All Tablets (PSF0GCMSBOTG): Computers & Accessories, which gives the benefit of swapping out SD cards and connecting to USB/MicroUSB without an adapter (I'm horrible at losing tiny things) but in the end opted for the simple stick - which is also 3.0 standard for the USB side. Also, edited earlier post to reflect that it's actually a 64GB stick, so triple the increase in available storage for 1/2 the difference in price, and usable across a variety of current and future replacement devices.

Now if I could just win the lottery, I could just buy them all and not worry about it!

For device swapping I have just been using cloud storage.

The whole reason I'd like SD is to not feel so crowded when it comes to pictures and video. As it is now I have to delete or move stuff occasionally to make room. Sticks are not a convenient solution for me; they are not connected all the time which means more to keep track of. Would much prefer having everything on the phone itself.

If you have to ask, get the larger one.

No such thing as too much space

Actually, given OP hasn't had any notable storage on prior devices, I'm inclined to agree with this. You'll learn soon enough how much space you actually need (though note you'll also be spoiled to having that amount) and can then make a more informed decision based on your own personal value received as to what to look for in future devices. Kind of like buying popcorn at the theater - better to buy the medium than the small, unless you've had popcorn there before and know you won't eat more than a small bag.
