Hi All:

I am looking to get a backup travel charger similar to the 2A unit that came with the phone (have the VZ version). I noticed that Samsung does not resell the exact same unit but has a 1A item:

Travel Charger 1A (Detachable with USB to Micro USB Cable)

The 2A charges the phone real fast. Why doesn't Samsung carry this as a stand alone unit? Is the 1A charger worth getting or should I look somewhere else?

Thanks a bunch.

It's worth getting without a doubt. Charge times on a 1A would be significantly longer than on a 2A. At least twice as long to charge (4-5 hours vs 2-3.)

I don't know why they don't sell the one that comes with the phone, that is odd.

I bought the charger you posted about. As you can see it looks just like apples charger. The cord is even the same length. It is good enough to function as a travel charger I think. But it is definitely much slower.

I use the Kindle Fire 1.8A charger and it works perfectly fine with my Note II and just as fast as the one from Samsung.

Amazon has several, both AC and DC powered, most under $15.
Just be careful, some devices advertise 2A but it's really something like 2 ports with a max of 1A each. Sneaky.

Thank you all for the great advice. I will look into the 2A chargers mentioned above. Have a great weekend.

Mmmm I believe Note 2 only pull up to 1.7 amp. How I know that, I use Exilir 2 with their widget add on. It show when I plug it in, it pulling 1.7 amp from my Samsung charger. Same for my surge protector with 2.1 amp usb port. It only pull up to 1.7amp. That the maximum it can pull.
