1x on Htc Evo

I live in an area with basically no service, no 4G in the state yet, and the nearest 3G 15 mins away from my home. I'm a college student so when i go back to back I have great service if your wondering why i still have sprint lol. At home with all my other phones I've always had 1x. Now with the Evo I have 3G at home. Granted I still only have one bar at best. But the 3G flashes and the bars are moving. I've yet to even see the 1x on my phone does the evo even have it? Why am i getting 3G?

There is a bug in the phone that makes the 3g icon show up whether you are on 1x or EV. Whether this bug was intentional, to make people believe Sprint had increased their 3g footprint dramatically is debatable. But anyways, if you do a speedtest you will see that you are actually on 1x and it isn't really any faster.
