2.2 Froyo OTA

So the consensus is that all Droid owners with 2.2 will be able to download Flash tomorrow from the market?

So why are a lot of people saying the 2.2 OTA update is bad on the Droid? Are there really a lot of bugs and problems that are causing the phone to run slow? I haven't received 2.2 to my Droid yet but I'm concerned from all the folks on here talking about how bad it allegedly is.

It's not bad. VZW started the push and then stopped abruptly so people are convinced it is a bad build. I'm sure the issues with the Evo Froyo launch had a lot to do with that.

It's perfectly stable for me, only things I don't like is not being able to get Flash in the market (not that I let that stop me) and the fact that my bought apps don't show up under Downloads, but both issues will be resolved when this build becomes the official build or a new one that is official is released. I'm not worried. The only issue I have seen with the build itself is the fact that the Astrid Task Manager starts for no reason and then FC's for some reason and the fact that the screen-saver turns on while in the dock. Both are minor inconveniences and the overall improvement in the device FAR outweigh them.

I can say that it's fantastic. The speed makes this a new phone again. Now, I never have rooted, but I do have a lot of apps, and it was really slowing down recently. Now, the zip is back. Don't worry, you'll be happy.

Agreed, it's not quite as fast as a next gen device but the lag is GONE!

i just did the manual force upgrade, was easy and worked great.

I did it last week, also no issues.

Assuming this is the build that VZW deems to be the official one yes.

Okay, thank you. It's good to hear this from someone who is up and running Froyo. Still waiting on the OTA.

my mom just called me complaining that her phone doesn't get a signal since updating last night. i'm on a dinc, so any ideas?

I got one last week but had to return my phone due to something unrelated. Got my new phone Monday and was prompted for the update again last night. My girlfriend got hers this afternoon, kind of weird how she got it though. She went to a website and was told her device was unsupported then she got her prompt to update from the network. Think it was probably just weird timing but who knows.

Anyway Atlanta, GA here hope you get yours soon!

I have frg22 and rooted as well and received a push update today too! Now this update is 76 meg? The offcial update was only 46 meg on another phone. Anyone have an idea why this one is so big? And if there is a difference?

Not sure about the size or the reason for it, sorry. Maybe something to do with the baseband and root kit installed duno

But I can confirm the size I got for mine is 46 and I just got mine yesterday. At the moment I'm running stock aka warranty work

Just got the ota 2.2 update for my wife's droid and now it wont connect to verizon. Connects to wifi just fine and everything else appears to be working. I have been googling and it seems that the problem is not unique. Heading to vzw retail tomorrow for new phone 2.1 if I cant get it rocking. Anyone have a similar problem and get past it? Anyone have any ideas? Task, killer is uninstalled.

Have you tried re activating it? Dial *228 and choose option one. Might work

Oh Crap - I got the update...

Hadn't been on the forums so didn't even know I was going to get it. Was excited to see it and updated when the popup appeared. Now my phone force closes ALL.THE.TIME. HelixLauncher fails miserably, I can't download *any* updates from the Market for any of my apps (all fail on download).

What a crap update. Have had the phone since March - think I can get an upgrade free out of this fiasco??

Yay! I just got Froyo OTA at 9:30pm on 8/19! I work overnight and have been checking out 2.2 on my downtime all night and so far it's working great! Haven't made any calls yet but I'm slowly rearranging my 5 homescreens and trying the new features.

I'm wondering now, will I need to use Launcher Pro anymore? It kind of seems like 2.2 is similiar to Launcher Pro. Anyone who uses LP have any input on this?

Argghh - wow, my battery turned useless with this upgrade! It lasts only a couple of hours vs. the entire day now. Plus while I can take pictures, I can no longer view the ones that I take (previous pictures show up fine).

I also can no longer update or install anything from the Market which keeps force closing on me.

Never rooted, always OTA updates.

I've been using LP Plus with Froyo for several days. I like having the extra two screens at my disposal, and I prefer the Sense-style previews that LP provides over the previews that the stock launcher gives you.

That said, LP has been FCing a lot for me lately, so I'm thinking about jumping ship to the stock launcher.

Damnit - called support over the issues I was having and now my phone is bricked after they had me factory reset. Without a phone until tomorrow :(.

Unhappy with that service though as I would have paid for an upgrade in order to ensure I had a phone. It's my only means of running my company as a consultant, and they let me sit for 24 hours without communications.

VERY unhappy with the update thus far. Could be that I got a lemon from the get go, but sounds like others are having quite a few issues with this particular update.

Interesting to know, thank you. I will uninstall Launcher Pro for now. I like the 2.2 launcher so far and I've had no problems since recieving 2.2 OTA so I'm very pleased. After hearing several problems from some folks on here I was worried but have had very little glitches. Only had a few 'force closes' on some apps that may be attributed to 2.2 but i'm not sure.

my droid is so laggy on stock 2.2. lp is very quick. if i didnt have it i dont know what i would do.
