2.3.3 woes -- how can I go back to 2.2?

A few weeks ago I jumped at the 2.3 upgrade that was available, and then realized it was only 2.3.3. All I really wanted 2.3.4 for was learning to do dev with an ADK. Oh well, looks like I'll have to find another phone for that.

But I don't like 2.3.3 -- the voice recognition does not work properly now, and it pauses quite a bit now. Swype is also worse. Worse, after every 2 pics I take, it freezes and reboots. Then there are a lot of smaller random reboots I haven't associated with any specific action yet.

So to the point -- how can I go back to 2.2?

Thanks.

what do you mean it's not possible. root has been out since day 2.

i waited till the update before i installed. and the updated 2.3 was rooted also.

It's not possible if you took the over-the-air (OTA) update to 2.3. That build broke all known rooting methods and so far has not been cracked. If you stayed rooted, rejected the OTA, and installed a rooted 2.3 mod, you're all good.

If you did the OTA update or have exchanged your phone recently at a retail store (which nearly guarantees an updated phone), you're stuck with stock until the dev community figures out how to unroot again.

Both 2.3 updates I received on my 4G were rooted. I don't know why some people unrooted to get the update.

Some of us never rooted in the first place. I ran stock for a year myself. I planned to root once my warranty was up, but then GB was announced and I decided to see what the stock update was like. That proved to be a mistake for rooting purposes, but given that every other official update had been rooted within days, I don't think anyone expected the kind of delay we're now seeing.

Wow 2.3.3 has not been rooted? Man this sounds like a deal breaker to me, I was just about to sell my Epic to get this bad boy and get some cool roms going.... but I dont know now that i am hearing that no one has been able to root the latest.
