2 articles on Google's shifting interests: be aware

These days a company can transition from fresh faced Silicon Valley sweetheart to the Man quicker than people realize. I am not saying that Google IS the man, aka a greedy, entrenched corporate institution wielding political power. I am saying that elements of Google are fully capable of transitioning to a different core ideology - which means it may be a good time for us all to reexamine our relationship to the big G.

Here are 2 articles, written in slightly different tones, about the changes coming at Google. Please read and add any comments you have, thanks!!!

I am not trying to be partisan, if that's what you are implying. But notice I included 2 articles. The one from Forbes is less alarmist sounding, imo.

But the point is that both articles state that in it's new ventures, Google is shifting away from it's core principles. The Forbes article, like I said, puts a more friendly spin on it. They say "Let's HOPE that Google will remain true to their creed." I personally am very skeptical that will happen, so I'm not too optimistic myself lol.

I didn't mean that as an attack on you. I read both articles, and agree Forbes is more unbiased. The Gate article seems to contain more doom and gloom.

The "Socialist" SF media ought to love Googles Orwellian surveillance

Google is a problematic company ethically speaking... remember they are basically an ad ware and some might say spyware producer that's why Android exists. I prefer their products to ,say, apple and think that Google often does quite well for its users but they need to monetise us its the nature of their business revenue comes from ads.

This being said they can seem quite ethical for what they are. This seems to be the donoevil culture plus their savvy marketing of said culture.

Apple on the other hand has less excuse for some of the crap they pull but I suppose they might be a little better in absolute ethics.

I don't think btw that the addition of paid results on top is that bad, but SFvgate made a good point about how they bragged about their unpaid shopping results..
