About a month ago my Bionic (purchased on release day) started having difficulty charging. Prior I was getting random reboots but this was different. When placed in the dock I was getting a message that the battery wasn't recognized and to replace it with a Motorola battery (this happened with both the original battery and the extended battery that I purchased from Verizon).
There is a possibility that I may have dropped the phone just prior but I don't recall it as a major event where I was concerned that it was broken.
Verizon was great and replaced it under warranty. Other than having to reload all my apps the process went smoothly.
Saturday night I dropped my "new" Bionic when I was getting out the car. It fell off my lap and the top right corner of the phone hit the street. The screen shattered. It didn't just crack...small chunks of glass are missing in the corner.
The phone continued to work through last night but it looked like there were charging issues similar to my last phone. I was right. Once the battery drained it was toast. The phone won't charge at all.
I was able to connect with a decent 2nd tier customer service person at Verizon and although they can't take phones with screen issues back as a return to the warehouse, she was able to work out some credits to offset the insurance deductible. Thankfully I should have another phone tomorrow.
My concern is that there is some kind of defect in the Bionics if they are dropped. That there something becoming disconnected too easily that is interfering with the battery charging???
Has anyone else had this or a similar issue?
