2+ gb of data for spotify app relocates to system storage when i clear Spotify app data

[Android Central Question]

I have an LG K30. I use spotify frequently and have for 3 years. Every phone ive had previously has exibited the same problem. The problem is this:
When bringing up the app storage, spotify shows up first with 2-3 gigabytes of data being used for storage. If i clear the data from the spotify app, spotify will read 0 gigabytes however, my system storage will then INCREASE by 2-3 gigabytes. I cant access system storage for a detailed list. What is going on here? Theres 2 rogue gigs moving all around.

Welcome to Android Central! Sorry, but I'm not clear on the issue -- are you saying that when you clear the data from Spotify, the available system storage goes up by the same amount? That's what I would expect -- you're gaining the storage back when you clear the data from the app.

I looked at Spotify settings, and the only deletable is the Cache - you could delete individual downloaded items such as podcasts.

When you long press Spotify then tap info ,scroll to storage you don't see the option to clear data , cache, and force stop?

I'm not the OP. Just referring to the settings inside the Spotify app when open. Not the app settings in Android.

System storage has nothing to so with User storage. As long as Android fits into System storage you're fine. (I have an old phone that came with Android 2.23 and 117MB of total storage. You couldn't even fit the current kernel into that now. That's why they don't keep updating phones forever. One day the kernel will be 256GB, and that's just a small part of System storage.)

I'm still waiting for clarification from the OP, because what was described in the post was exactly how it should work. Clear 2 GB of app data from an app, and the available storage increases by 2 GB.
