Thanks so much for everyone involved with their hard work on getting 2.2 rooted for newbs such as myself. I have two questions.

Main reason why I wanted to be rooted was for wireless tethering. I feel after following instructions my level of newbness has decreased and I see it's not as hard as I thought to fool around with the phone.

I searched but could not find answers to these two questions.

1. Why would I want CYANOGEN's custom rom instead of what I have? (I know it lends itself to the answer of just playing around with different roms) but truly what does it offer over stock rooted 2.2?

2. I tried using SETCPU fresh from following instructions on 2.2 (I know im rooted bc wifi tethering works) but when I tried using setcpu to perflock disable it gave me an error on incompatible kernel. anyone know what to do in this case?

Thanks in advance,

1. people like the stock android experience better than senseUI (personally im the opposite... but its good to see choices for everyone)

2. incompatible kernel means that you must have a custom kernel that allows overclocking, or other cpu mods as far as i know...

IMHO i flashed bakedsnack with bakedspeed kernel (xda-developers) and i must say that i have found new love for the evo!!!! its so fast and smooth, i cant believe i lived with the 30fps cap for so long. and battery seems to do mee good also

havent looked at another rom since, except to try out cm6 stable only to find out that im not much of a stock android fan. htc senseUI really makes the android experience much more complete and polished

CM6 benefits are : close to stock android, speed, no sense, consistent updates, a big CM community and.... Its just awesome. Oh and there's no fps cap and its OC/UC able.

I've been with cyanogen since root, tried fresh and baked snack but... Didn't cut it.

Wat is your battle life with bakedsnack? I'm on nightly 8.29 going to switch to stable rc2 in hope the crappy battle life improves

i was just on baked snack for my first rom and i removed it, it killed my 3g speeds and im unsure why.

i went to AC rom and its awesome so far, my 3g speeds are back to normal.

i figured out what was going on, i was running an old version of setcpu (restored from titanium backup) updated and everything seems to be working now.

im trying to change the icons on my phone... like the battery status, dont know what im doing wrong..plz help
