Hi, I have a Pixel 9a. I have set up two profiles, one personal and one for work, each with its own unique ringtones; however, when I am in my personal profile, all incoming calls from my work profile use the same ringtone as my personal profile, and as such, I can not identify if the incoming call is personal or work. The same happens when I’m in my work profile; personal incoming calls use the work profile ringtone.

How can I fix this to keep them separate?

Welcome to Android Central forums. I assume that you have these people in your contacts, no? If yes, I would suggest that you personalize each contact to the desired ringtone. This way no matter when they call they always have that stench, oops, I mean that sound of work calling to them.

If you do not have them in your contacts, they will act like any other in-coming call, under that profile. There would be no way for your device to recognize a random call from any other call.

Alternatively, you could assign personal contacts a unique or special ringtone and then use a general ring for everyone else and in that way you could distinguish which is which. Not sure if you know more people personally or professionally.

You know how they always say there's an app for that? You may be able to make some of this a bit easier. While you cannot do this directly in the Google Contacts app you may be able to find a third party app that will allow you to create contact groups and assign the whole group a ringtone. From what I've read this can be hit or miss for some.
