2 wks with Atrix after leaving Blackberry Help Frustrated

The Multi-Touch keyboard is a Motorola thing, so they handle the auto-correct, suggestions, and punctuation logic for that keyboard.

Gingerbread has it's own keyboard that includes Multi-Touch support, but it's not the same as the Motorola one. :)

Yes, it is a bit different, but drives me crazy just the same. I guess I'm a single tasker because having to correct autocorrections all the time really, I could smell my brain burning!:)

Thanks. It looks like they don't have a lite version I can try, just the $15 full version. Did I miss it? I don't mind paying for apps I need, but I really need to try them before buying.
Yes, $15 seems like a relatively large expenditure for an Android application, but many of the folks who purchased it seem to like it so far. Spb has had 3-4 updates since releasing it in March.

You will recognize some of the guys who have posted on your thread the the Shell 3D thread as well.

As a business user I do not have time a lot of fun and games, so I do not put my most used 2-3 dozen apps in folders. I look for speed, useful widgets and measure the number of swipes and clicks it take to open my apps. Spb Shell 3.5.5 was the most productive enhancement I made to my WinMo Smart Phone.

It's true, with the BB you don't even have to look at it to type. It's an amazing keyboard. Too bad it's attached to a Blackberry...

Amen...the only thing I miss from my Bold 9000. I almost never even looked down at the thing when bangin' out an SMS or e-mail. Could type like 90 WPM on that thing. With my atrix I'm reduced to constantly staring at the screen as I type. And don't even THINK about typing while walking somewhere...it's practically impossible for me now. I have to stop & stand somewhere to reply to someone lol. And i've had my atrix since day 1 (well, around day 2 or 3 really, of its release).

I love it though. Just, it doesn't compare, not even a LITTLE BIT, to what I could accomplish typing-wise on my bold 9000. Not even swype. In fact, I'm finding I type slightly quicker than I do on swype, with SiwftKey 2 Beta or MultiLing Keyboard while fingerpecking.

But anyway, "too bad it's attached to a Blackberry" is spot-on. If I were with Verizon I might've sprung for the Droid Pro with its berry-like keyboard (check it out!), but I'm not sure if the quality of that keyboard is up to RIM's.

Yeah, losing that keyboard is like a death in the family. I mourn every time I start typing on the Atrix. I was thinking about the Droid Pro, but the reviews weren't very good, at least what I was able to dig up. I think it's either the BB keyboard or nothing. I think it would help if they even made the phone just a half inch wider. Making the keys taller doesn't help me. I need them wider. Thank heaven for landscape! Still, I'm at about one word every 2-5 seconds and then I still make mistakes, so have to go back to correct them. I find it easier to just wipe out all the words following the error than spending time trying to place the cursor where I need it. Grrrr.... I wish there was an undo option somewhere...

don't forget too, you might need to recalibrate/calibrate the keyboard in order to work for you. everyone will tap the key/letter at a different angle or spot on the letter. might be why your having issues (aside from getting used to it)

I have given up and returned to my 9700.

Don't get me wrong I love the Atrix and think it is a fantastic device.

I love the screen, the apps available, the speed everything about it except the reliability of email.

I use it all the time for communication with my family. I live in the US and they live in various parts of the EU. UK and Greece mainly.

I also use it for some business ventures that rely on speedy email delivery to be competitive and I am afraid that while the phone maybe up to it the Android platform is not comparable to BlackBerry.

Please don't say Gmail is instantaneous, it isn't. Where a couple of minutes can make the difference in tests between the Atrix with my Gmail account and Berry the Berry wins time and time again.

As said though the Atrix is fantastic. I can't see me being able to sell it as I am convinced the best is yet to come from this phone.
