I am one of the happy users of Nexus 7 (2013), now I am looking forward to add one more tab to my list of devices ?
The plan is to go with 10 inch device, not that I have any major concerns with 7 inch device. I will continue to use 7 Inch device for its portability or give it to my kid. The reasons I am thinking of 10 inch vs. 7 inch 1) Working on remote sessions of VM will be easy on bigger screen 2) While I use email in 7 inch device, the on screen keyboard takes more than half the screen (in landscape mode), so I think this is another area where bigger screen will be useful. 3) Movies and videos will have better experience

I prefer sticking to Google branded device, Nexus 10 Inch. So far what I have read about 2012 model, it looks pretty good with anything major to worry about. Is that a correct understanding? And this one will continue to get support for at-least another year or two in terms of OS upgrade etc..?

My guess is that new one would obviously be at premium and my thought is that if 2012 model doesn?t have any major issues, I would go for it as there is a possibility of getting good deals.
Suggestions please?

Well, we don't know when that 2013 (2014?) model is gonna be announced or available. The 2012 model is a pretty strong spec'd device so if you're really set on a pure Google experience you may want to go ahead and starting thinking about pulling the trigger. However, you could give yourself another 2-4 weeks and see if you hear anything about a new model being available this year and go based on that. TBH, there's some hot 10" tablets either out or coming this year. The Note 10.1 is set to be the top device and will be available shortly. I can't imagine that anything else will be quite as versatile. Asus' new Transformer TF701 is gonna have sharp specs, a sharp display and that keyboard/extra battery option. My Sony Xperia Tablet Z may remain the thinnest and lightest 10" for a while and its water proof to 3'+ and is a great performer with fantastic 3D sound and other features.

Several interesting choices in the 10" tablet arena.

If it were me I'd wait for Google's new 10" tablet, which is supposed to be out this late fall / early winter.
