I have the s21 ultra and was going to trade in for s23 ultra. The 21 ultra having 16 gb and 23 ultra having 12 gb ram, will the 23 ultra be slower and not as smooth, is this a big issue? Will I be loosing if I trade in.

I upgraded from s21u to s23u and it does not run slower, In fact, it seems to run smoother, at least with what I use the phone for. No regrets here.

There is more to performance than memory… you’re running a chip that’s two years improved and more efficient. And regarding memory I believe you are running faster memory in the newer phone. I would guess you could buy the cheaper 8gb model S23U and it will still outperform a two year older model.

Even thought about buying the 256gb 8gb ram, would there be any noticeable difference in running speed compared to s21ultra? I would love to keep my s21ultra, back of phone is cracked pretty good, can get repaired for around 150.00. Just didn't want any difference in the way new phone works. I traded in my s8 2 years ago for the 21 ultra and thought I'd miss the brilliance of the screen and camera, however I haven't thought twice on my decision.

Under normal use, the amount of RAM does not have any impact on performance. It will limit the amount of open programs you have running in the background but Android manages that for you.
