I have a samsung galaxy A01 running android 10. Can I remove samsung calendar? I want to use a lighter calendar app but I am worried that if I uninstall samsung calendar the whole OS will stop working.
Can I remove samsung calendar and not damage the OS? If I replace it with a third-party app would the OS still function?

Generally speaking, if a device gives you the option to Uninstall a preinstalled app (when looking in the Settings>Apps menu), that app is not crucial to the system. Many preinstalled apps can't be installed, but even then, they may have a Disable option, which also means it isn't crucial. If there's no Uninstall or Disable, then the only way to remove an app would require rooting the phone -- that's where people can run into problems.

the disable option is greyed out. there is a force stop option. does this mean it's not crucial?

If the Disable option is greyed out, that means Samsung doesn't want you to get rid of it. Force Stopping any app is possible, but depending on how it's coded, it could always start up again on its own. There's something called Package Disabler Pro that can be used to disable apps like this on non-rooted devices, but that could still cause issues.

Nope, you usually can’t fully uninstall Samsung Calendar—it’s one of those pre-installed apps they force on you 😤 You can only disable it, not remove it completely.

I uninstalled it from the get-go on my A36.

A search indicates that no, it can't be uninstalled, but two years ago an S24U user on Reddit found that he could also uninstall it.

This was purchased direct (like my A36) SIM free - unlocked - here in the UK. I wouldn't know whether this is solely an option for the UK and/or European markets or possibly whether purchasing unlocked makes a difference?

I don't recall around Android 10 if you or not uninstall the Samsung calendar app but my latest Samsung unlock you can.

You still can use another calendar app and set it as default, if you want to disable it you have two options one is with ADB cmd for bloat or this app which I use and can enable or disable whenever I choose.

Also no need to worry about it breaking anything on the OS .

I'm thinking about uninstalling the clock app as well. According to this article it should be okay to remove it:

some apps might need the clock app, for example the browser. I have encountered error messages that say I need to set the correct time and date. If I remove the clock app I might get this error. Other apps that need time and date might not work properly which is a concern, but I'll try and remove it. if something breaks I'll have to reinstall clock the playstore or galaxy store

I also found an adb command for removing the clockpackage. does this look correct?

Command: adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.sec.android.app.clockpackage

if I replace the samsung clock app with a third-party app, will the apps that use the clock work properly? or are these apps designed to work only with samsung clock?

there's also the Samsung system Alarm manager that needs the default clock app. hopefully the third party app works with this
