Any of the power adapters that convert to usb that I have seem to be 1amp. Is it OK to use a 2 amp adapter safely that will charge the phone quicker?

I think a 2 amp adapter would be fine. I believe that in the near future HTC will release a rapid charger that is 2 amp. I recollect reading that somewhere.

I have an 8amp charger and use it on all my devices. The device would only take as much current as it needs, so no worries even if the charger is rated higher.

This. My car charger is 2a and it works great with the M8.
