2xl not recognizing my SD card reader after 8.1 worked fine before now it doesn't!

Anybody else notice this? I use the white usb c to usb dongle plug that was provided for the initial transfer of your info from your old phone. It came in the box with the phone. I could plug it in with a sd card reader with a SanDisk 8gb card and photos would be viewed and transferred. Now it won't.

hoping that someone has noticed that usb card readers aren't working as of 8.1 update...anybody? thanks.

I've tried ES file explorer, usb debugging toggled and it just won't recognize the reader.

I can't comment on SD cards being read or not since I don't have an adapter handy right now but regular USB keys seem to work properly on 8.1.0 (build 013, January security updates).
I'll see if I can find a USB adapter for one of my SD cards tomorrow and let you know if there's a difference in behavior.

I went to Google Support, it seems as if I have a bad charging port. The port is also giving me charge issues.
