3g/d a bad phone?

Hi first post here. I have a week left before my 30 days with my fascinate is up and was wondering is I should make them replace the phone. The deal is very slow data...i rarely get full 3g, it almost always says 3g/d and my speedtest scores are - download 300kbps and upload 450kbps. I tested my wife's incredible right next to it and got - d/l 1050kbps and u/l 350kbps. Is this a bad phone and will a swap with verizon work? Or is this just how the fascinate is?

As for the "D" being displayed below your 3G symbol, that's normal. That is just indicating that there is no communication with the network and it is idle. The arrows only appear and light up when there is information being sent to and from your phone. As for speeds, I'd run a few more tests in other areas of where you live before coming to any conclusions that you're receiving slower than normal speeds.

The speeds you are seeing are typical for me in Seattle. I guess it depends on where you live. If, side by side, your wife's Incredible is getting that much higher, then you might have a defective phone. I can tell you my Incredible, Droid, Droid X, and Fascinate have all been equally as slow in performance. 90% of the time I use WiFi instead.

Take your phone to the store and test it side by side with the Fascinate on display and compare speeds.

thanks...I thought something was wrong when I kept seeing 3g/d. I think i'll keep this phone then. Thought about trading for droid x but I love the screen on this one. Also thought about trading for a different fascinate but the slow data is the only problem with this one, I'd hate to trade and get one that was very lagged or any of the other problems.
