"4G data speeds (WiMAX) ? peak download speeds of more than 10 Mbps; peak upload speeds of 1 Mbps; average download speeds of 3-6 Mbps.
3G data speeds (EVDO Rev A.) ? peak download speeds of up to 3.1 Mbps; peak upload speeds of 1.8 Mbps; average download speeds of 600 kbps-1.4 Mbps."

Is that possible? Or am I misreading something?

But how often can you get the peak speeds? If you get close to peak speeds on 4G and a third of that on 3G which is better? They will upgrade 4G and it will get faster. I don't know about you but I don't really upload all that often. I am not sure I ever do aside from sending emails but I never email files just text.

I'm confused. Why would 4G be capped at 1mbps and 3G reach 1.8? Wouldnt they cap that as well?

Because an engineer somewhere decided that was a good number to go with until they see real world results with a 4G phone. Don't expect miracles with 4G for a while.
