3G Gear S2 now available for pre-order

Everything SMD said about being able to quickly answer a call when phone is out of reach has me most interested in the 3G. Shattered my heel 3 years ago and sometimes getting to my phone quickly is just impossible. And I think I'd like to be able to assign sounds to Notifications, even though the vibration on the regular S2 is mostly sufficient.

Might consider not activating sim just for speaker function. Not sure. Only thing that I have to figure out is if being 13.4mm thick compared to 11.4mm is going to ruin my love for the regular S2's form. Although not a classy look, the size on my wrist of regular S2 is just right.

I have till tomorrow to return the regular S2, and wait a month for the 3g on Tmobile, and I'm already getting anxiety about not having it for a month, but Samsung has made that easier by releasing on Monday, yesterday and today, three versions of the Gear app that has broken Bluetooth connection to my Nexus 5, so my S2 is pretty worthless at the moment, anyway.

Lte will hit the battery, but based on my experience with the Gear S, I plan to disable Lte (3g in the case of Gear S) except for when I don't have my phone or I'm not on wifi. What's intriguing for me is how many days the Urbane battery will last if Lte is disabled for all but a few minutes a day. In those instances, you could be looking at a 3-4 day battery which would be worth it just for that feature.

I think you have pretty much covered the bases and it sounds like there are few reasons for you to take advantage of the 3g model. For me, I hate hauling my Note 5 when I'm biking, walking/running, out and about on vacation, or just running out for a quick errand. And it used to drive me crazy to carry my Note into the gym just for music and notifications, but his has been largely rectified with the wifi feature on Tizen and Android Wear, although only a 3g or Lte watch will allow you to actually receive and make phone calls independent of your cell. Ironically, the LA Fitness I just joined doesn't have wifi so I will definitely need cellular connectivity to stay connected without my Note. As for bluetooth, I love it and use it exclusively to talk on the phone and on those occasions when I connected via my old Gear S. As for GPS, yes, your phone GPS will relay over to your smartwatch.

Yep I'll be getting one. The Samsung website does say the S2 3g will have GPS along with speaker and bigger battery. Can't wait.

If you always have your phone with you the 3g version isn't for you. I hate carrying my phone on walks or into the stores. The 3g part simply gives you a cell signal for when you don't have your phone. If u do have your phone the Bluetooth will sync with you phone and your GPS also.
I also like the Classic better but want the speaker and 3g more.

The S2 3g is fairly hideous, and I'm saying that as someone who thinks the regular S2 looks really nice (for a sporty watch). I posted a link to pictures of the S2 3g in this forum. Someone posted a video on YouTube, and the guy stated that it was too thick for his button-down shirt sleeve, although he admitted not a great watch for business attire. Definitely going to need to see this watch in person, but I'm not feeling optimistic that it'll be aesthetically pleasing.

Video where a guy wears it so you can see it on. It's thick, but 2mm is worth it to me I think for the extra functionality.
