3G/LTE Switching Issues

I live in DC and regularly jump on the metro. Once underground, despite having 4 bars of 3g coverage my phone never works. Once I get back up top, it takes at least 60+ seconds to switch back over to LTE and start working again. Pretty annoying as I usually use maps to navigate the city. Anyone have these issues(3g not working/long switch times)? Anyone's DNA work on the metro?

I can't speak for the DNA, but your experience replicates my experience traveling by metro in DC with the Galaxy Nexus. It's been one of my biggest frustrations with Verizon 4g phones. The switch/trade-off its still a big problem.

Damn. This was a big draw of switching to Verizon. Iphones seem to switch seamless.
