3g mobile data not working

My Verizon Data connection stopped working abruptly today. DX with Froyo. Voice calls work fine, 4 bars on signal. I did update the roaming *228. Data works fine with wifi, but not mobile data. The 3G indicator is not lit. I am in a good 3G area, my Blackberry shows 3G with full bars.

Ideas?
 
Are you rooted/have ROMs flashed? Have you tried rebooting? I had a defective radio and the same thing happened to me had to get a replacement.
 
I am rooted, but using the stock ROM. The only thing I am running that requires rooting is setCPU. I did rename some of the applications to eliminate bloatware, but that was a month ago. Everything worked fine till yesterday.
 
How old is your phone? It doesn't sound like what you did would cause the 3g issue you are having. Sounds like it might be a defective radio. I would restore your phone to stock and take it to vzw to look at it. Don't do a factory reset until you are at vzw cause you may have trouble with activation. Make sure you have your contacts saved on gmail over wifi.
 
I called Verizon tech support. After reviewing the normal stuff (reboot, *228, data settings), they "refreshed" my data subscription. Came back on instantly. Fellow said he's seen a few of those the last few days, must be a problem in their system. All good again.
 
this happened to me also, a couple of days ago. i had gingerbread running (i don't tether, and if i wanted to i would pay for it). It ran great all day after loading gingerbread, but later that evening, i lost all data connection. The phone still worked but no data connection and no 3G symbol, only the bars.

I tried *228s, battery pulls, cache clears, factory resets and even SBF'd back to .340 - twice - and still no data connection love. I figured I would have to go bring it into a store the following day. So I was sort of looking it over, making sure it was ready to be returned and, all of a sudden, the 3G symbol just popped on. And data connection was restored.

I put gingerbread back on, i don't use tether at all, and haven't had a problem for the past 2 days now.
