3G vs 1X

I haven't ever had the need to post here yet, but do try to read the forums a couple times a week. I have had a problem show up though with my Incredible that kind of baffled me and wanted to see if anyone had seen similar. At my office, I have never had a problem getting a strong signal and 3G, whether it was on my BB Storm before this, or with my Incredible. However, over the last few weeks I have been only able to get a 1X signal approximately 50% of the time. What really baffled me is that my next door "cube" neighbor has no problems with his Droid X getting a strong 3G signal. I've tried turning the airplane mode on and off, rebooting, and updating my roaming capabilities, bit nothing has helped. Has anyone seen something familiar before? Thanks.

Same problem here only after I updated to Froyo 2.2. Hope someone has a solution....

In the dx forums some people had the same thing.I mentioned to try dialing *18 sometimes it works... sometimes not.It's suppose to connect you to the closest tower,in relation to your current location.

It's just a 2 second pop up screen, no type of audio.

Sometimes if the tower traffic is heavy it will drop some devices to 1x from 3g. Try *228 to update your PRL and it may map the towers better.

THANK YOU OP!!!! I posted a rant the other day about same thing. I can set right next to a buddy with the LG Ally,he will be getting around -70 to -80 on his signal strength while I struggle at -97 to over -100. Both with VZW, both with plenty of battery.... setting right next to each other. Very frustrating.

If it werent for the mobile hotspot feature, I would go back to 2.1 as I seemed to get better signal and battery life then.
