So I'm in a rough spot.

I have a rooted, unlocked Google Galaxy Nexus. My USB jack flaked out and anything I plug into melts.

How would I go about updating my phone? If I download the OTA, it fires CWM and fails because it is unlocked. Any ideas on how to update, and keep root AND not use a USB cable?

IMO 4.1.2 is the least of your worries.

What do you mean stuff melts when you plug it into the USB port?

Huh? Are you talking about the microUSB port on your phone or your computer's USB port? What do you mean "melts"?

The charge/usb port on my phone has failed. Cables smoke when I plug them in. Phone isnt under warranty and I am not interested in the cost of repair or time without it.

Software and/or update procedures can't fix your problem.

Either get the USB port fixed or replace the phone.

There is no workaround to do what you're requesting.

I was afraid of that. I may replace with the LG Nexus. But I am going to wait until the Google Event to make a decision.

I have a rooted unlocked Google Galaxy Nexus, but deleted ROM manager a while back due to the No Media bug. I got the update and downloaded it fine this morning. It kept root as well. Maybe this is just a fluke though.

On to the more pressing issue, did your charging port short out? Can you still charge?

Download the firmware directly from your phone to the internal SD card.

Launch into CWM and flash it.

Then re-flash CWM + SuperSU to re-root.

No problem.
