I'd more than love to get to 4.2.2 OTA, however everytime I try and install it it'll error out at the bootloader screen.

That is your problem right there.. Your trying to push an update through using the custom recovery...

Hang tight.. I'm a tad out of touch with the EXACT method to work around this.. I'll grab some backup support to try and get you on the right track.

Unfortunately I'm in the same position as Paul; I can't quite put my finger on the workaround either, so to speak. It's been so long that I've been in the position to accept any sort of OTA update that I've lost touch with the processes of doing so. :p

Sorry I can't be of more help... I'll call for some additional backup. ;)

Okay first you need to make sure you have the official OTA update file download and that your on stock (rooted is okay) JB 4.2.1 JOP40D

Download the file below, directly from Google :P

http://android.clients.google.com/p...4.signed-occam-JDQ39-from-JOP40D.de8b8d10.zip

Place that file on your SDCARD " Internal storage " of the device.

Boot into your custom recovery and make your BACKUP first just incase.

Next select Install/Flash file from sdcard.

Find the file you downloaded on your device and follow the prompts to select and start the install.

Install should complete and then you can reboot the device and enjoy :D

Did it work?

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk 2

i used the wugfresh rootkit, and under the options of said program it says that i have the "team win" recovery

Good.. See if you can use the option within Wugs toolkit to boot into recovery or if that still doesn't work then try reinstalling the recovery. This won't erase anything on your device.

ok so i rerooted the phone, and am amble to access the team win recovery mode...from there i try to intsall the file, however it says "failed." do i need to check "verify zip file?" is there a way to install via the wugfresh toolkit?

What did you do besides root your phone? Such as flash a custom kernel, rom or some kind of mod/change system files? If you haven't changed anything and just rooted your device then the update should install perfectly fine on your device.

just root/unlock, launched super su...i used to own a google nexus, and frankly i do believe that the OTA updates did install jsut fine. the nexus 4 installed up to 4.2.1 just fine in it's current incarnation...

Try and check for system updates in your settings. The OTA should still work even though you have a custom recovery. Are you 100% sure that you have not changed anything else? Uninstalled any kind of system apps or anything?

You can use the return to stock feature on Wugs toolkit. Do not lock the device again. When you have gone back to stock fully, you should be able to download the OTA update and it should install fine. When the update has installed, root your phone using the toolkit. Remember to change the build number after you have updated. Also remember to backup your important data as it will get wiped when returning to stock.

i've also just wiped my dalvik cache to instal the recomended zip file...still fails. am i suposed to rename it? it's pathname is /sdcard/

up untill the proposed zipfile has been posted, i've had the 4.2.2 ota ready to install on my nexus 4. after wipeing dalvik, i had to setup my APN, i now have to wait until 11:21pm?! what's going on with this? are there settings that i need to tweek?

the only thing i had modded was playstore to a modded version to play bootleg games. even now after the dalvik wipe, i'm still failing at that zip's install.

in trying to install via the teamwin recovery manager, i'm getting this error:

verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/framework/core.odex", 'f842266
E:error in /sdcard/de8b8d101614.signed-occam-JDQ39-from-J0P40D.de8b8d10.
