4.4.2 crackling / skipping audio

so I upgraded to 4.4.2 NAE using Odin now that towelroot opens up root on this version, but I didn't wipe the data partition so all my apps/settings were kept intact. I had originally meant to wipe it, but forgot it's an extra step you have to perform and after the OS came up everything felt good so I left it as such. one thing I noticed however is with 4.4.2 I get a slight crackling sound when I get notifications. This doesn't always happen... then when I'm playing music using Rocket Player or Spotify, I get random skips in the audio when I'm doing nothing else. I pretty much have all my apps and data backed up with Titanium Backup so I'm ready for a full wipe, however doing so would still be a pain so I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on this... or even a confirmation that a full wipe would fix this?
