4.4.4 Features

Verizon really surprised me this time. Not just for the file manager, but how quick this update was released too. I figured this would have taken until Christmas for us to get 4.4.4.

I can already tell I'm not going to use the flashlight. The one I already installed had a widget I could use (handy on the lock screen), but the stock one doesn't. I use it fairly often, so the widget is actually the deciding factor for me.

Can you share what flashlight app you have that works on the lock screen?

Thanks,
R

I'm using a prior version of this app

I refuse to update because it used to have all features in one app. The developer decided to split it so you have to additionally download additional "modules" to get any features beyond the basic light. Not sure if that affected the lock screen widget ability or not. The developer said the reason for splitting it was to save space for people with lower end devices that don't have much storage and can download only the parts they want.

OMG. Im a verizon M8 owner. The file manager works for SD storage as well? This just made me REALLY excited.

Agree on hastiness of the update, it makes me feel a LOT better about the possibility of getting android Lollipop in a timely fashion.

It does. The only thing I'm not seeing is the ability to show hidden folders that have a period in the front of the folder name. I looked, but doesn't appear to be a setting to toggle showing hidden folders in the manager.

Chiming in on the flashlight and file manager for Verizon phones as well. They're definitely new to the VZW models with the 4.4.4 update. Noticed them when flipping through my app drawer last night. Very welcome additions.

I'm also personally glad that the 4.4.4 firmware update seems to have kicked Google Wallet back into working on my phone.

All around, very pleased with this update, and the fact that Verizon got it out so quickly. Now if only they approved every update this quickly.

Since the update to 4.4.4 you must not enter the PIN anytime you switch back from airplane mode to normal mode. Prior to the update you had to enter the PIN every time you switched back.

"Emergency Alerts" now shows as an app in the app drawer. Skype now seems to install when you update to 4.4.4. Also, when you update multiple apps at once, there is a single "stacked" notification in the notification bar, versus how it showed individual check marks before when each app was updated. Not sure if this applies to other notification types.
