4.4.4 OTA while rooted

Has anyone successfully updated their phone while rooted? I'm rooted via towel root, I downloaded update but not sure if I should run it. Sprint.

Well, I unrooted using superuser and verified that I did not have root access through root checker. The update failed. Any suggestions?

Can someone post simple instructions on how to update the Sprint s5 to 4.4.4 if your rooted?? I would like to just flash the zip file in my custom recovery. Is that possible?
