I figured the OTA update for my Nexus 4 would've definitely been out by now.
Guess the Nexus 4 is old news. Certainly makes me think twice about purchasing a Nexus 5.

Remember, it is only soak testing right now for the Moto X... and if you know Verizon (I was with them for many years with multiple devices), that means the general roll-out is anywhere from one week to two months away, but it is typically around a month assuming there are no issues.
Be patient, the OTA will come to us... it bugs the crap out of me as well, but there must be a reason, the silense on Google's part is what gets me more than anything. There is a lot of talk on other forums that Google was using the factory images as a "soak test" to check for bugs before the general OTA roll-out, and there have been a handful of bugs found.
There's no indication on Moto's website that this is a soak test. It looks like the full deal, rolled out in stages. Soak tests were generally announced on their forums or through email, and you had to opt in to get on the list for candidacy. This is "hey, we're rolling out 4.4 starting today!"
Yes, it's awesome that a non-Nexus device is getting the latest update so quickly, especially since it's on Verizon (that's hell freezing over news right there). But it's a fundamental change from how Nexus devices (the Verizon GNex a notable and glaring exception) operated in the past. Yes, the image is out there and anyone can go sideload it if they want. It still feels like a betrayal of the Nexus program to see the update roll out OTA to non-Nexus devices before Google has even announced the process for Nexus (and Google Experience) phones. It really does make me question whether picking up a Nexus device is worth giving up some of the benefits of manufacturer customization to Android if future updates are just going to be delayed anyway (or even lag behind someone like Motorola).

people are on the google + feed are pissed. "Sad thing is I have a n5 and it's really not ready. Reminds me of a Sammy release. I think +Sundar Pichai is going to destroy Android. The hard-core "fanboys" like me are f$#ked the moment this chrome nazi dismembered Android management staff. He has even effected aosp. It's mind boggling, nsa slaves"
I think something went wrong. Or Google might be adding LTE capability for the nexus.

Something went wrong I think... Seems to me I read if they were going to enable LTE in the N4 they would have to resubmit to FCC for approval, not likely.
