I'm mulling over the option of using my early upgrade on the Bionic but am curious as to one thing. I work in a 4G area where my current Droid1 gets not so great reception for both radio and data. Data is especially terrible. I have other issues with my droid and can't wait to dump it.
If my 3G is bad where I am does that mean the 4G will be the same? or is it completely different meaning it could be either worse, the same, or better?

Wierd. I. Replied to this new post but mine looks like the original message on my browser. Really strange. Anyway that is a reply from my phone.

My 4g aircard gets 2 bars at my home but I am usually at 4 bars on my Droid X. That said my 4g connection still gets me 10mps datawise. So I would say your 3G connection is not a good gauge. Depending on your 4g coverage you will probably see a different experience than your current 3g. Couldn't hurt to give the phone a test drive and see what you think. If it doesn't work any better you can always return it.

Edit - this was a reply @ 6 am -- gonna try to delete the one timestamped before this thread was even opened :) Look Im controlling all machines!

I was in the same boat as you as far as coverage goes. When I went from my Droid1 to my DroidX I got better reception. Its still not perfect, but I can now almost always get my email and tweets and stuff.

If your phone is giving you fits, and you have an upgrade available, it won't hurt to get the Bionic and see if this helps you out at work. I'm not saying it will be the magic bullet, but it can't hurt. Worst case, you turn the Bionic back in and pay the restocking fee.

If you have weak 3g reception, I say enough good things about Verizon's Network Extender. I takes me from 1 bar without it to 4 bars anywhere in my house (3 floors) as well as around the yard.

I'm in the same boat, except I have the original Droid Incredible. I've read that HTC's radios aren't the best and the Motorola's are extremely better. I'm hoping that's the case when I pick up the Bionic and bring it to work.

Will Verizon charge me an activation fee if I upgrade? If so, will I get that back if I return the phone?

There is no activation fee. Just bring the phone back if you don't like it within 14 days and you will be charged $30 restocking fee. Hopefully you don't have the experience I did when I brought the Droid 3 back. They tried to refund me back $70 when I paid the full price of $478 or whatever. The lady then gave me attitude until I handed her the receipt, got a dumb look on her face and then again messed up on the refund amount two more times. She still got it wrong the third time but I said screw it, the amount was close enough lol.

I guess I'll probably go for the Bionic and keep my fingers crossed. I've read that the Bionic should have good battery life and Motorola has the best radios. I'm not impressed with my wife's T-Bolt so I'd need to wait on the Vigor to see if it has the same problems as the thunderbolt
