4G Cost?

No. Basically you sign a new contract when you get a phone so if the terms change then you accept those terms.

I think I have a way around this!

I have my primary line, that I have been doing 2 year contracts on. Got my DroidX in October on that line. Contract has unlimited data @ the 29.99 price.

I have a second line that I use for upgrades with 1 year contracts. I currently have an old dumb phone activated on that line that my Dad uses from time to time.

What I think I can do is upgrade the second line, then immediately move that phone to my primary line, and put the dumb phone back on. This way I wouldn't have to change my primary line contract!

Think that is workable? All signs indicate I may not have to do this, but its a plan...

Sounds similar to an alternate upgrade, except you're actually switching the lines around. I don't know how that would work in terms of your contract, but I suspect it might still not make a difference. A change in Verizon policy is going to affect you across your entire plan.

When I got my OG Droid, I did not have an upgrade available on my line, but another line on my family plan did. They used that upgrade on my line and, of course, I had to sign up for the data plan.

I don't think it will work the way you want it to without either changing your plan or upgrading the 2nd line to a data plan. I know with the TBolt you have to have a sim card for LTE so I'm sure you will have to sign up for that somehow no matter what.

You will probably have to add data for the 2 years on that second line to get this phone.

How bout this idea ..... if VZW charges more we all call up and complain and switch service to Sprint or T-Mobile which are both cheeper. I live in ny (down state , not up state ) and it seems that both Sprint and t-mobile work well in my area of travel ..... I pay $200 a month 2 two smart phones 1 dumb phone , and I refuse to pay anymore. Verizon is good but they are not god, and I can't justify paying anymore than $200 a month for cell phone service.

Ouch! I couldn't justify paying $200!! That's a hefty cell phone bill.....

For 3 phones, 2 of which are smartphones requiring data plans? That sounds about right to me. I pay $85 just for my Blackberry a month which I think is ridiculous. They phone is already capable of doing the data stuff... I just have to pay $30 to be able to use it. Complete BS.

On Verizon, I have 2 "full-featured" phones, one BB, and one Netbook, w/unlimited text and 1400 minutes all for $226 w/tax etc.
