I'm in Claymont, DE and, according to Verizon, I should be getting 4G but I only get 3G. Any ideas or should call tech support?

Following advice in this forum, have you previously set your phone to 3G only?

I messed with the 3G coverage last weekend since my 3G wasn't showing up but I restored the settings. Later that day, I got 4G in Wilmington. Today Ii downloaded the LTEOnOff app. It is set CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto which I believe is the correct setting for 4G.

Of course this is a no-brainier, but I would reboot, I'm sure you have, but if not, definitely do. Sometimes I am in 4G coverage area but I get stuck on 3G and a reboot will fix it. If no luck, I would toggle back to CDMA+EVDO only then back to CDMA+EVDO+LTE once more.

Okay, make sure you also verify that this setting is still set at the factory default of eHRPD. Just in case you've changed this.

Many times the Verizon coverage maps aren't entirely accurate. For example, I live in Fort Lauderdale, and according to the coverage map, my home is in a 4g area. However, I only have 3g coverage. But if I drive a few blocks east I will be in 4g.

The point I'm trying to make is that even if they say your area is covered, you still might not be. Especially while vzw is in the infancy of coverage rollout.

It looks like your area has plenty of holes in the 4g coverage...I would expect that this will be getting better in the near future.

Didn't work but thanks for the advice.

I had thought that but was hoping it wasn't true since so much of the area is 4G.

I took a walk outside and still no 4G so I am guessing it is an issue with Verizon's network, possibly 4G just isn't here yet. The next time I am in Wilmington or Philadelphia I will check to confirm.

Thanks for all of your help.

I work in an extended 4g area, but only get 4g when I put my phone in LTE only mode.

Try putting it in LTE only, if you get 1X, then you probably don't have 4g in the area.

I use the app "Phone Info"

While it's possible you are in a fringe area, don't write it off as an availability issue. I live right in the middle of a beefy 4g area (Seattle/Everett WA) and I was having problems not connecting to 4g and it turned out to be the phone. I got a new phone last week and that solved it, however, the replacement is doing it as well now. :(

There is no 4G in claymont, Verizon told me the same thing but I don't pick up a 4G signal until I am leaving Claymont and on I95N.

I have 3G in West Chester, then 4G by the time I hit King of Prussia up north on 202. 4G stays with me all the way into Philly if I head that way. Kills my battery quick though :(

Randomly and without me doing anything I have the power (4G) in claymont. It is very fast.
