4G drops to 1x

My phone shows 4G on the notification bar but whenever I make or get a call it drops to 1x. Anyone know why this might happen? Anything I can do to fix this?

Does it show 4G LTE?

And are you on Verizon?

Yes 4g lte, I'm on Verizon. I called them today and they helped me set up "advanced calling". It seems to have fixed the problem and I now have great sound quality. Thanks for your reply

Yes, they probably enabled VoLTE for you.
