4G Hotspot does not stay connected to 4G disconnects all the time

I'm having the same problem. Sometimes I'm able to watch HD videos in full, but then it drops the connection - whether it's encrypted or not. I'm also on a 2010 MBP and my Ipod has the same problem.

I've tried turning off 4G and running only 3G and I don't have this problem (though no HD videos obviously) but this is pointless as my WiFi will be quicker than that.

Different and no security is among the first things I've tried. It does -not- make a difference, you will eventually see the same problem regardless.

It appears to be a problem with the TB not lte. I just picked up a new Samsung lte mifi and its rock solid at lte unlike the TB drop outs.

Yes, I have. I actually ran the phone lte only when I first got it, I only switched it back to normal in the process of troubleshooting this hotspot problem. Since then, I've left both 3g and 4g on as ive found lte takes longer reaquire its signal and I often step outside buildings with poor data reception to fire off quick texts using google voice before stepping inside.

Anybody tried PDANet or EasyTether and see if they get a solid 4G connection? I'm thinking it's the WiFi causing the 4G to be flakey...

Sorry if this is the wrong thread but I can't even find the hotspot to connect my PC to it. Please tell me am I looking in wrong area I running Win 7. Tried "Setup a New Network" and search for wireless networks it finds nothing. Tried searching for wireless devices and pretty much everything else in Networking and Sharing center menu options. Thanks for any assistance with this!

Have you set it up on your TBolt? Menu | Settings | Wireless & Networks | Mobile Hotspot Settings | Set all the parameters including passcode, then, | Turn Mobile Hotspot on.

In Windows 7, click on the Network Icon on the lower right of your screen (looks like a computer monitor) and you should see the name you gave the TBolt Hotspot. Click on that and choose Connect. You'll be asked for the passcode and then be connected. It does sometimes take a little while longer than I expected (maybe a full minute or so).

Yep did all that don't see the Tbolt hotstop in the Network icon menu.
Just to be sure, do you have the battery door on? Just asking because it has the antenna in it and it must stay on. Do you get the Mobile Hotspot icon on your TBolt's notification bar?

If you have all the above, the issue must be in the PC. You might want to check your network settings and make sure Network Discovery is on. Also check that no third party firewalls are blocking you from connecting.

Oh... also, make sure you have a data connection while doing all this (i.e. 3G/4G symbol is present in the TBolt's notification bar).

Yep phone is charging with battery door on.

Yep shows 3g hotspot with all password / 0 users connected with manage user button. Network Disovery is on under both "Home" and "Public" profiles.

Have no firewalls on at all I game a ton so those were killed years ago :P Have solid 3g connnection when the hotspot is on.

illusive check to make sure your win7 settings is not in any adhoc mode or wifi mode from the computer side of network connections.

Where does I find these settings acmxenon? Thanks for the tip soon as I find out where to check them I will see whats up with those two options.

illusive should in network or wifi setting under properties I believe illusive, I haven't fired up win7 laptop in a while. New win7 laptops have wifi infastructure mode like a router or like program called Connectify. Matter of fact Google Connectify, should tell how you look the settings up.

You know maybe since this is a desktop PC maybe I don't have wifi option? Is there something I could check to see if I do in the Device manager?

so illusive should have asked if it was desktop or notebook. Can you get onto a regular wifi connection.

I can connect to Wifi on my phone but under adapters on my PC I only see 2 ethernet no wireless anything.

go into network settings, depending on how your icons look (thumbnail, lists, etc.) should a picture of wifi connection stating if you have wifi card. Some cards or either Atheros or MSN something in device manager. By the way whos the manufacture of your desktop illusive.
