manhattan is barely covered on the map... kinda ticks me off that clear got the easy part done and not the hard parts...

Cheers if your in NJ, jeers if yours in NYC

lol... I'm in NJ (Newark area) and was surprised to get 4g in my home area. I didn't see much of a difference in performance.

What exactly is so impressive about 4g - other than the $10/mo fee? Please enlighten me.

WiFi tethering and crystal clear slingbox

That's not the map that tells what coverage is really there. Sensorly is the app you want to see the real coverage maps.

unfortunatly, you had me jump the gun on this post but ill show you the reply i got with sensorly about thier mapping

AFTER USING YOUR APP FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, I BEGAN TO NOTICE THAT MY SIGNAL STRENGTH IS SHOWING UP ALITTLE INACCURATE WHEREAS MY SIGNAL SHOWS FULL STRENGTH AND YOUR MAPS SHOWS 3/4. I'M ALITTLE CONCERN ABOUT BIAS. MY PHONE IS AN HTC EVO 4G ALSO THAT THE MAP OF VERIZON IS ALMOST COMPLETELY FULL COVERAGE AND SPRINT IS LESS THAN THAT. COULD YOU LOOK INTO THIS?

Hi Jonathan,
The signal index (3 out of 4) is computed slightly differently on the HTC EVO 4G than on other CDMA phones. That explains the discrepancy.

Could you explain to me the difference?

Also, thanks for the rapid reply:-)

It's just that the raw value is mapped to a different number of bars.

Cheers
Philippe

I'm in Westchester (mount vernon) and I got between 2 to 3 orange bars.
my highest speeds were 8.22 down and 1.15 up lowest 3.93 down and 1.13 up.

more or less, i ment manhattan, not the suburbs.

if you zoom all the way in time square (clear website), its very spotty to almost appearing as if its just wifi hotspots

as far as the area, i didnt get a chance to visit manhattan but i did map 287 near edison, NJ with 4g... took about an hour to upload that entire map from PA to NJ with if i remember correctly, 5000-9000 points

but once again, clear failed again with 4g airports covered. MCO is barely covered in terminal B and MDT had 1 bar at the furthest edge of the window. will try again on my way up I95 very soon
