4G signal

My experience with this phone is limited, but I think I'm in love. I have only played with it in the wireless kiosk that I work at, but I plan on upgrading in 6 days. My question is, our live model at work won't seem to keep a 4G signal. It seems to be on 3G unless the phone had just been powered on. I have tried a soft reset and that doesn't solve it. Is this a device defect, or is it across the board on the G2?

I have not had any issues with 4G signal with mine, and I have had it sense 9/12. I have not had any issues to speak of. Phone is very fast and smooth, no lag, and very quick to charge too.

Are you in a strong Verizon LTE area and do other Verizon phones keep 4G? If the answer to both of those is yes, then it is definitely an issue with that specific device. When I have a strong signal (two bars or more) I stay on 4G. I live in a strong 4G area, but my street goes downhill and unfortunately I'm the last house at the bottom of the hill so I bounce between 3G and 4G a lot because I'm in a valley, but that's why I have WiFi. My previous phone (Galaxy Nexus) would never get 4G unless I was in one specific spot upstairs because I live in the only 2 story house on the street. My G2 on the other hand will get 4G anywhere in the house, but it does switch back and forth quite a bit simply because of the location of my house. Any other time (when I'm at work or out and about) it never switches.

You can't judge a phones wireless connection in a mall. Unless said "kiosk" is located outside? Large concrete and steel buildings will always give you spotty coverage.

I do live and work in astrong 4G area, I had my Razr HD next to it and it had 4G while the G2 did not. I think the device is defective then, since it doesn't sound like a common issue. What a relief!

Judging it at the kiosk is the best judge because 1) I'm there most of the time 2) it shows that it is a strong signal, even if it can be recieved in that environment 3) who wants to just get 4G when they are outside? With that said, if other devices on the same carrier (SGS4, Moto X, RAZR HD) can get 4G inside a building, then I would expect the G2 to get the same signal, based on my research.

You make some valid points, but it's not realistic to expect 4G in these types of buildings. My 4G works fine in homes, apartments, etc., but I also loose 4G in most large concrete and steel bldgs. There is simply too much interference.

That's true, but given the wifi-less warehouse I work in, I want to make sure I can connect. I already ordered the case though, so I'm going to take my chances.
