There's a huge thread about how to side load the upgrade but not much discussion about what's the point of the update. DId anybody experience improvements of the lag associated with opening apps, etc? I find it quite frustrating on 5.0, and it seems like turning the encryption off is not something doable for most of us.

I have had it installed for about 3 hours, I've noticed it feels snappier within apps, and just in general overall with the UI. Could be a placebo effect from just rebooting for the update.

This is the info from Google:

Fixes/Enhancements:
Android update to assure all Google applications can be installed properly.
Enhancements to device call stability.
Fixes an application install issue.
Fixes modem issue.
Software version: LRX22C

Mav.

Mine is definitely smoother and much quicker in navigating in and out of all apps and browzing .

Battery is better too ..before I had some really good days and than I would have some that were just OK...now my days are all consistently good.

Very happy now

any chance you could go to security and see if you can decrypt? I was curious about that. I am de-exncrypted already, so wondering if they included that option or something.

No, no option to decrypt. Still the same.

It def did not fix the Sprint SMS issue. Jesus Christ! I don't understand why android can't handle SMS? Maybe its just this phone or 5.0. I never had this prob with the N5.

It is maddening that Android can't get SMS/MMS properly. This technology has been a wide spread for what, 10+ years?

I've personally noticed the camera opens and take photos faster that prior to updating.

The only thing that I notice is that the transition into Google Now from the home screen can be choppy from time to time. Transitions all together can be choppy, but not anything so horrible it's a deal breaker. I haven't really seen anything that would indicate the device runs faster being decrypted. It may, but you'd be hard pressed to notice it. Over time, just like the Nexus 5, those little performance issues will be corrected. I don't believe this small point update did it this time, though.

I just upgraded to 5.0.1 and the screen calibration sucks. Misses by about 1/2 centimeter on Samsung G5.

Is there a screen recalibration under 5.0.1? Doesn't seem to be under language /input any more.
