One can only hope this will be available for the Note 9.

You also have to hope they release it in your country. The 128GB and 256GB versions are available in certain countries.

as long as they retain the sd card slot still it would be cool

I don't care much about the card slot if I have that much on-board storage(which is faster), I know it's nice to have stuff on the card, but I could live without it.

Ahhh, but what would be the COST? I mean, the 64Gb ran close to 1000.00, so what would that much more on board storage cost??

First Winchester 100MB drive cost what the first 512GB SSD did, ~$1,500. Just hope these don't also.

There are people that pay those bucks for the fastest storage. UFS 2.x is set to break 800MB/sec

I know what you mean and I wouldn't really need 512 gb either..... until the phone breaks and I can access my stuff, I like the idea of the 512 internal that can be backed up to a 512 sd without having to rely on cloud services and data plans or access to half decent WiFi.
overkill for most but I love convenience, pull out card and plug it in the new one and no downloads needed

If you haven't encrypted the card!

Memory is cheap. It's everything else you are paying for.
It's perceived value they can charge extra for. They just need to be competitive for the market. Mass production means it should be relatively cheap for them. I guess we'll see down the road.

with S9, Galaxy X and other stuff rumoured for early next year, I would be surprised if the Note 9 comes out with anything less than 256 or 512 as it is supposed to be the flagship after all and other manufacturers are wanting to catch up with them so to stay ahead something special is needed on the spec sheet

I would have gone completely the other way. Getting rid of the SD card is the best reason to increase storage by this much :)

I understand what you mean but if you like convenience and flexibility the sd card is handy, especially for music/photos /videos
