If carriers shut down 4G/LTE the way they're doing to 3G as we speak, then I guess we'd need 5G.

That's my point. 4g lte started in 2009. 12 years ago. I'm not panicking and falling for the hype of 5g. lol.

Past history suggests about 5 years but that’s no guarantee. We’re on the 5th Generation though so the pattern is seemingly consistent. It’s a planned obsolescence blessed with self-interest by government agencies and corporations alike.
