5Ge on Note 9 AT&T

Yesterday i was in a town in CT i normally am not in and noticed my network was displaying "5Ge". I am on AT&T with the latested securtiy update. Was I really on a 5G network? Anyone know if the Note can get 5G and if AT&T has 5G Networks up already or was this something else?

Not true 5G but faster than LTE. Note 9 is not 5G capable.

My take on that article is that while 5Ge on AT&T is marginally faster than their regular 4G, it's only one twentieth the speed that true 5G will be when it arrives... hope this helps...

AT&T did the same thing before 4G LTE rolled out. They had an enhanced 3G network that they labeled as 4G then when LTE finally rolled out they changed it to 4G LTE.

I’m not complaining about the performance as I have noticed that it seems to be faster but it’s just hokey. Folks that know what 5G is know better and folks that don’t won’t value the 5Ge moniker much more than the 4G LTE moniker. What is AT&T hoping to accomplish by labeling enhanced 4G LTE as 5G that they couldn’t accomplish by labeling it 4G LTE+ ?
