5X to 6P

Hello there to all of you.... I currently have a Nexus 5X and was hoping to hear from any of you who switched from that to the 6P to get feedback. I'm looking to possibly switch due to battery life and some other issues, but I'm especially interested in any comparisons your normal usage patterns between the two. I'm considering either going to 6P or Note 5. I had a note 4 and loved it except for Touchwiz. Many thanks in advance,

I currently use both (6p for personal 5x for work) and most things about them other than hardware are identical. Battery life is pretty similar in my usage, basically the 5X idles better and the 6P works the screen more efficiently. What are the other issues that are making you want to switch?

I'm also on the fence with 5x or 6p. Since I'll be using a case, the better build of the Nexus 6p is negated. Or do others feel the build is so much better, it makes the 6p the better buy?

6p is bigger, higher res screen, amoled (preference), has a technically more capable processor and more RAM and a larger battery. Is it worth the $100+ extra? For a primary for me, yes. For you? Not sure.

Haha same dilima myself except I took the plunge on a 6P.

It does feel more solid then a plastic phone even with a case on. Using the Verus case on mine ATM. At the same time it's noticably heavier. Coming from a 2013 N5 I'm finding it much more difficult to hold. Not just because its bigger in size but because its significantly thinner(almost too thin). I constantly have to readjust my grip. Also right now I feel the 5x is a better deal thanks to the Project Fi discount.

I'm giving serious consideration to sending it back and getting a 5x instead. This after originally being drawn to the larger screen and bigger battery. I do wonder if battery life is as good on the 5x though? I've heard conflicting reports, some saying it's as bad as the original N5.

Objectively speaking the 6P is the better phone. It's a bit faster, better screen, better speakers, better camera (slightly, mostly due to the better ISP on the 810)... better battery life... but I will say that if I can't use my 6P for whatever reason, I have no qualms about going to the 5X.

Now, the 5X does have some things going for it. First, it is a very comfortable phone to hold in hand... between the size and its weight. I have big hands, so the 6P doesn't phase me much, but the 5X does have its charm. And in day to day use, the last two builds have really smoothed out the wrinkles... even with the camera. Battery performance is good... maybe a tick below the 6P, but being 'only' 2700mah doesn't cause too much of a problem.

If you are coming from a Nexus 5, the 5X would do very nicely for you... but the 6P would as well... it all depends on if you want the extra goodies that come with the higher price tag. I thought it was worth the premium, but then again, I ended up getting both.

I had a 5x when it first came out, and made the jump to a 6p a few weeks in -- haven't looked back since. Took me a few days to get used to the size, but the screen, speed, build and battery were all awesome and better than the 5x IMO. Well worth the switch.

It's all about the screen. The 6P has a 5'7" AMOLED screen, the 5X has a puny LCD screen. I had the 5, the difference between AMOLED and LCD is startling, the colors are much more vibrant and the contrast is much much better. I adapted to the the 6P in a few days, now I find it very comfortable, when I look at my old 5 I can't believe I was happy with such a tiny phone. I also think the 6P will still be the best Nexus phone even after the 2016 Nexus phones are released. The HTC 10 uses LCD not AMOLED and the rumors are that they will be dropping the screen size down to 5.5 which is a huge mistake.

The HTC A9 uses an AMOLED display and it is pretty good so I wouldn't assume the HTC Nexus will automatically have a LCD display. I do however have a feeling the screen itself will be 5.5". Google threw out a trial balloon with the 6" phone and has been shrinking it every since. Plus I think they want to keep the cost down.

I had the 5X for 2 weeks and then went for the 6P. The 5X is a good phone but the 6P battery life, speed and screen are superior. Size is a minor issue.

Wouldn't shock me if they went with the two-phone route they took last year. One higher end with all the trimmings, the second in the mid-tier with some less-expensive hardware choices (like LCD vs AMOLED). So 5.0/5.1 and 5.7" options. The 6P was so well-received and highly praised that I think they are going to be fine with building a similarly dressed out device.

Yes. That's true too.

The current rumors are HTC building both 2016 nexii, one at 5" and one at 5.5"

Hopefully that's not the final screen sizes. Those are waaaaay too small. They need to go back to 6" 5.5" is too small.

That's where we differ, I think those sizes are perfect and if they're specced identically other than the screens, I'll buy the 5" HTC Nexus.

I almost didn't buy the 6P because of the screen size. However I'm glad I did. It's a great phone. This is the smallest I would go though. I can't see my self going smaller. I watch too much Netflix/YouTube to find a 5" screen even remotely useful.

That's cool. I use my tablet for video most of the time and my previous phone was a 5" screen which I found worked well the rest of the time. That's as small as I'll ever go again, though. :)
