Is there any reason to think that an S26U manufactured in one place is going to be better than one made elsewhere?

I change phones every year.

Most Samsung phones I bought were manufactured in Vietnam.

Never had any of the issues you see people complaining with new released models, except the S24 Ultra (Made in Vietnam).
The oleophobic coating was wearing off with just about 2 months of use (where my right thumb slides left - right). 😡 Many people had the same problem. Never really checked if it was related to a specific country.

Mine was purchased from Samsung unlocked but I don't know where it was made I would have to go find the box and look but I was wondering too doesn't matter is there a difference?

As far as I'm concerned it really doesn't matter if it was made in Timbuktoo. I like the device and to me that's all that matters.

I got my 26+ directly from Samsung. It was made in Vietnam. I have had phones directly from Samsung over the years and they were made in S Korea or Vietnam. I don't care as long as they work.
