When the TB is docked in the car 6 large icons appear:

Footprints
Voice Search
Search
Navigation
View Map
Make a call

I like that set up a lot but what I want to know is there a way to edit those icons to show what you want? For instance, I want to remove Footprints and in its place put Mail.

Also, I love the car dock but would love it even more if I could dock it with a protective case. I'm in and out of my car 20 times a day and removing a case and putting back on will get old. Anybody know if there is a case or a car dock that will support both?

Thanks in advance!

This message board has made the transition from a BB much more enjoyable than I thought it would be.

3rd party apps... some even provide additional screens and shortcuts to specific contacts... and you can use a shortcut a screen to start your app without having to take it in and out of your case, but of course that means you might need a different dock.

Search "Car Dock" in the Market... and I like the Arkon SM429-SBH Universal Removable Swivel Air Vent Mount with Mega Grip Holder... it doesn't put the phone in dock mode, but it will hold virtually any phone (with a case).

I just received the above mention Akron mounts today from amazon. The airvent mount is worthless in my 2003 Taurus. Tried every possible way to mount it, even bought some plastic tubing and slid it over the mounting arms for more grip. Nothing worked. Finally said screw it and mounted the sticky pad to the dash so I can use the windshield mount. I really like the fact that I don't have to take my TPU case on and off every time I want to use the mount! $15 from Amazon

As for car dock mode I downloaded Car Dock Home v3 and am loving it! There are 5 screens just like your home screens where you can add whatever app or widget you would like to them.

I got a chance to use Car Dock Home v3 today and have one issue with it. I checked the disable screen timeout option that the app offers and it works except that the screen will automatically dim to a very low brightness after about 25 seconds of not being touched. It only does this if it is not plugged into the charger.

Is there an option somewhere within android's system settings that allows me to disable this "auto screen dimming due to inactivity" (there isn't one within the app)? It would be nice to not have to plug in a charger for shorter car drives.

the only option I have like that in my display settings is screen timeout. Nothing about dimming the screen
