6P Pricing...post Pixel Announcement

I'm very interested in the Nexus 6P and I've been stalking the prices at both retailers and on Swappa. I know there are differences with purchasing from both, ie (return policy, manufacturer's warranty) but there is a benefit from both. I could go with the peace of mind and go through a retailer, or go for the big savings on a gently used on Swappa.

I'm thinking the Google announcement tomorrow will shake things up a bit and perhaps be the factor for many in deciding to move from the 6P to the Pixel XL. There are already a good amount on Swappa (64GB for just under $400). $340 is what I would pay, but who knows...maybe $300 would be the asking price for some. I guess I'll have to wait.

On the retail side, I don't see clearance type discounts any time soon. Maybe retailers will want to quickly clear out Nexus anything because its "discontinued" by Google. We all know that it has plenty of life left but what benefit would it have for retailers to keep it in stock? I would imagine that the Nexus line will quickly disappear from the Play Store as well. Any thoughts?

I would think prices will go down. How much?, no idea... But the 6P is still a great phone, I'd love to be able to get one at a reduced price.

You know, I don't see the massive price drops and sales for the 6P as there was when newer Nexus phones dropped in the past. The pricing on the Pixels will be much higher, so I don't think as many people will be rushing to upgrade from the 6P as happened in the past. If anything, the 6P may jump a bit higher on Swappa, as those that were holding N5's and 6's decide that the Pixel isn't worth the launch price, and they go for a 6P instead.

I do see occasional flash sales and Black Friday sales for $50 to $100 off, but I believe the long term strategy will be to maintain N6P pricing until inventory is depleted. Pixel phones are targeted for customers that usually buy Sammy's, LG's, etc, and will be sold by the same retailers that carry them. They are not a direct replacement for Nexii, so there won't be as much pressure to clear out old inventory as there was before.

I had a 32GB Aluminum 6P that I bought direct from Google back in December with Nexus Protect. As I was waiting for a replacement via RMA one weekend in August due to an issue with the headphone jack, I browsed Swappa and jumped on a deal for a brand new, sealed 64GB Matte Gold 6P for $425 from a local seller here in NYC. I couldn't pass it up. I ended up canceling Nexus Protect and selling the refurbished phone on eBay. Keep up on Swappa, hopefully you'll find a similar good deal after the Pixels come out. It's definitely still worth it if you don't want to shell out what the Pixels will cost.

6P is a great phone. A bit disappointing to hear it may not get the option for the pixel launcher...

I didn't want to wait too much longer so I jumped on the B&H sale for the 64gb for $499. It comes with a couple screen protectors and a Garmin Vivofit 3 which I plan to sell on Ebay. I'm hoping to get around $75 for it, so the phone would come out to around $425ish. I know if I wait till black Friday there would be some deep discounts (probably), but like I said, I didn't want to wait longer.
