6p vs 5x vs others for Cell Reception Strength

Has anyone seen any scientific tests between these phones and others? I've got a long commute each day, and I've found that the reception on the 6p doesn't seem to be as strong as my 2014 moto x was. (Also, I've noticed the phone is very delayed when showing signal strength changes, which is more of a nuisance than a big deal)

I'm curious how there stand up as actual phones. Not may places testing this it seems.

It's virtually impossible to do this because of variables. My reception is all over the map because of other users in my area which is out in the country and not close to the tower. If I'm up during the wee hours of the morning I generally get decent LTE signal but mid-day is a different story, I only manage to get a strong HSPA signal. That's just one of a huge number of variables at play. Read this and imagine trying to conduct a test that comes to a definitive result.
I can only offer you my completely anecdotal experience which is that I haven't noticed anything different from the last couple of years of other phones. Moto's radios are pretty darn good though, I have to admit my last Moto phone back in 2011-2012 got better dBm under HSPA than anything else I've owned until LTE became more commonly rolled out.

It's not scientific, but my workplace is a near dead zone and my cell service is significantly better than both of my previous phones (iphone 6, galaxy s6 edge, LG G3).

Better then my lg g3. I used to jump all the time from 3G to LTE inside my house and since the 6P, only in the basement where I got 3g but LTE all over.

Nexus 6P

This phone has better radios than my old nexus 6. In my gfs apt I would lose signal the second I entered they lobby downstairs, however I now have LTE all the way to the elevator, where I then lose it. I def am getting better reception than before, it also helps with battery consumption, and standby time.

You can check the signal measurements with an app like LTE Discovery. Compare the readings between the two handsets. You will see if the 6P is connecting to a different radio band, the signal strength, etc.

I'm in the UK with Three and my friend has one with EE. We have both agreed it must be the phone. We have full 4g practically where ever we go.

This is probably what I'll do. After a few days commute, it definitely seems to hold onto tower signal less often than my Moto x, but not by a large difference.

I have verizon. I cant give scientific evidence, but My office is in a spot of the building where cell service is poor. My One M8 would switch between low 3g and 1x in here. My 6p (although its only been 24 hrs mind you) is switching between Low LTE and decent 3g.
