7.1.1 Double Tap and Lift to check not working

I rest my screelock from none to swipe and lift and double tap work fine now.

So here's what I found. After your screen goes dim, you actually have to wait for the timeout lock to take effect before the double tap or lift will wake the phone. At least that's how it is

Try to cover the sensor in front... double tap will not work... try using it inside your bag... double tap it... it will not work... just did an experiment... sony's double tap to wake function is more consistent....

I don't keep l lift on but I do you double tap works fine for me unless battery is low

Hello.. Is been couple months now since this was written, and just found the article when researching why my Pixel's ambient screen is Still not acting properly. Even after my 7.1.1 update. The ambient screen only comes on by itself One time, and that is after the phone has gone into sleep mode for the 1st time. Double tap to wake has Never worked for mine. All comments for this thread are couple months old, so I'm wondering if I am the only Pixel owner still experiencing these issues..? Hope someone reads this pretty soon and responds..Just getting VERY frustrated that I can't get one of my fav features to DO what it Says it is going to do. urrrgg!! Please let me know guys!

Figured it out.. I had set up security to establish a VPN, but after I turned it off, the double-tap and lift failed... even when they were switched on in motion... HOWEVER, I just figured out the screen lock must be engaged for it to work.. None disables these options.. setting to Swipe activates the features again...

Love this phone so far. Used to have a Samsung Galaxy S4 that failed due to applications running in the background on a bad SD Micro locking it up completely, and decided it was time to switch. This thing will not reactivate the screen for pocket-dialing, pocket-texting or other operations when the phone should not be unlocked. Love that the USB C to OTG adapters exist. especially the Gigabit, USB3 and dual-video-option (HDMI or VGA only).
