I have the HTC u11 and have even done a factory reset and I am the horrible battery life. I had great battery life on 7.1.1 but I can't go back. Do is there a battery drain on 8.0?

Ok, show us some screenshots of the stats. Charge up to 100%, then let it drain to 20-30% with normal usage, without charging in between. Then show us:

1. The main Settings>Battery screen.
2. The fullscreen battery graph screen (which shows Awake time and Cell Signal Strength).
3. The Screen category (to see total Screen On time).
4. The Cell Standby category, if present (to see Time Without Signal).

You might have to install a 3rd party battery monitor, like GSam Battery Monitor, to get the Cell Signal Strength graph.

This is what I have from today once I got down to 20% or 18%. I don't see any big difference. Only thing I can see is that Facebook will using roughly 30% of my battery. I stopped it from using background processing. But I'm wondering if you can tell me what you see. Other than that I think it's probably going to end up being the Android 8.0 itself and I promise me updates as I read online it 8.0 is having issues with other phone as well. And Google plans on fixing it by releasing 8.1.

It looks like your cell signal is terrible, at least for a good amount of the day. That's why your Mobile Standby is so high (27%). I can see that the cell signal indicator in those screenshots is showing no bars. Even if you're using wi-fi, the poor cell signal will kill the battery (unless you turn on Airplane Mode).

GSam Battery Monitor can give you a more detailed cell signal strength graph. But I think that's your main problem.

yes I understand that poor cell signal can affect battery. however can you tell me why It did not affect my battery when I had 7.1.1 and that is affecting my battery so much now that I have 8.0. at my work inside my warehouse I have between 0 and two bars. understanding of how and why it's taking me so much now on 8.0 but did not affect me when I have 7.1.1. I have heard from others that 8.0 has affected their battery life even on other phone like the Nexus 5 and even the pixel and pixel 2. so I'm just trying to figure it out. I do very much appreciate the help though.

Hmm, I'm not entirely sure. Are you saying that your phone also had poor reception before, and the battery life was fine? If you recall the phone having much better reception before the update, then it's possible the update is causing some glitches with the cell reception (perhaps making it lock onto a weaker band in your area).

Well no I always had poor reception at my work. I've had the HTC u11 for roughly a month. I've always gone like a zero to one or two bars at work as I type this I have 4 to 5 bars at home. Before the update when I had 7.1.1 even though I still had poor reception my battery life was was great and I was getting them roughly around 18 to 24 hours of battery life. After the update however it's like around 8 hours before I got to charge it. I think I could just have a glitch that no one else is experiencing right now but I've already factory reset so it has to something bass in the 8.0 update.

Any idea if Facebook was using that much battery beforehand? It can still be a big battery and memory hog, so it's worth uninstalling it temporarily to see if things improve dramatically.

no I don't think Facebook was using that much. but I did turn off background activity so that it would not used the app too much in the background. and I'm going to see if that helps. I'm hoping that HTC puts another updates out to fix some bugs

Have you seen any improvement since your last post? My u11 updated to 8.0 and the battery performance has plummeted liked nobody's business. I'm really disappointed as every other aspect of the phone is awesome, but from stellar battery life before the update, to simply shocking afterwards, it makes no sense, if I have 80% at bedtime and don't feel the need to boost while sleeping, I wake up to 25-30%
