8.4 or 10.5 - Give me your opinions

I can't compare the screens as I only have the 10.5 and have never really looked at the other.

I like the screen size for reading and watching movies. But I think I preferred my 8 inch Playbook tablet's size better when holding it free-hand so to speak. I use both of them mainly in Landscape orientation. The larger screen tends to want to rotate and seems to require more control. But I've somewhat countered this by placing it in the Logitech Keyboard case which provides more places to hold it although I don't use that keyboard as much as I expected. Obviously, the smaller unit is most definitely more portable and easier to stash.

If I recall, the control buttons are located on the short edge of the 8 unit making it more of a portrait oriented device???

I'm sure you will get other opinions.

Nope, Power and volume are on the right hand side (when holding in portrait mode).

Technically, I believe, the 8.4 screen is sharper as it is the same resolution in a smaller space, therefore smaller pixels. Having said that, I don't think that should be the decider. Some uses (such as reading comics) would be better suited to the 10.5, although i use the Mavel app on the 8.4.

Go and have a play with the two of them and make a decision based on real world.

Personally I like the screen size for 8.4. I can carry it around pretty much every where. Both devices screen are sharp and I didn't see much difference between the two.

Personally I would have picked another tablet if I knew what I know now. But that's because I like playing games and the Tab S (either) is not a good choice for this. Aside for that I find the 8.4's screen to be very nice and I love the low weight.

I prefer the size of the 8.4, and I've had a good experience overall with the device. I'd definitely recommend it.

Major difference factor for me is the size: I had a 10" iPad, then a Nexus 7, which was great. Fit in any pocket. Then I had an iPad Mini, which was a gift from my Mother, but I didn't like the size. She repossessed it, and I tried the Asus 8" - I think I got a bad one. Now I have the Tab S 8.4. Fits many, many pockets, and is light enough to hold in one hand while reading. So...

Size is the issue. Dimensions and weight should be considered. Anything too heavy is very hard to hold in one hand for any period of time. If you do read on your tablet, and you can't always guarantee a table to put it on, think hard about the weight.

I ended up getting a Kindle (an ePaper one, not a Fire) for my reading. So much easier and less fatiguing on the eyes. Still happy with the size and weight of the 8.4 and use it for technical books as well as other stuff.
