Considering continuous usage actually drains your battery faster (more heat for extended periods of time), and depending on how well you have your phone's idle set up, it should be equal at worst. Standby time is most likely pretty good on the G4 as it was on the G3, but perhaps I am wrong about that.

I do not see why OP couldn't have just turned the game off, gone to bed and then started again in the morning. He would have lost maybe 1-2% while it was in deep sleep if set up properly? Then again, the numbers seem strange since GSAM is reporting an 11 minute call taken at some point during this hardcore PoKeMoN Gold session (which is, by the way, my favorite PoKeMoN game by far) and he said he played straight through for the 7 hour 45 minutes.

I know I can get 8 hours on my G3 with lowish brightness and reading nothing but manga, but most of that is staring at a still screen and flipping pages. Not a lot of CPU needed and it will most likely not go higher than the 600mhz core.

True they can, but folks need to remember the OP has never claimed that to be the case, and posted his normal Sot is a actually 3 to 4 hours... I'm saying this here just in case someone says he is.

I am actually kind of amazed that he only gets 3-4 hours SoT with other usage, but actively playing a game at that brightness yields 8 hours. Something doesn't seem correct.

I think it's also worth mentioning, since I don't think anyone else has, that because OP is using an emulator the lower half of the screen is black. That surely has an effect, yeah?

LCD technology does not benefit from darker or lighter colors. Only factor is brightness.

The percentage usage of the screen matches the time used but at the end of that battery graph there is a charge being done.
Wonder if there is any other charges during this SOT.
10 hours is great but what were you doing with it and what was your setup.

It doesn't look like he had a sim card aka no cellular connection which would help battery

8 hours SOT? I'm only getting 3 hours SOT. Maybe mine's bad. Or maybe I have old eyes that need more light in order to see and I can't run with the screen turned down to 5%. I have been going 3+ days without a charge, so there's that.

Yea or airplane mode will also help. I just got 85 hours standby time with my sim so having it in or out doesn't really make a difference for me.
I get good reception where I'm at.

I could have gotten 30 hours or more SoT but I got bored. And I didn't charge at all. Not sure why the graph looks like it went up a bit. It was just on the same % for awhile toward the end.

LMAO yea right buddy that's not gonna happen. Your 10 hour SOT was at its best pretty much, I highly doubt you can even get close to 30.

I remember my G3 shortly after a full charge calculating that I had something over 1,000h standby remaining....I worked it out as 42 days, for goodness sake.

I didn't put it to the test though.

FYI for those 10 hours I had my phone on airplane mode, screen as dim as it would go, set to not turn off. It sat like this for about 7 hours and used maybe 20%. Then I wanted to drain it so I could test my quick charger so I streamed videos for 3 hours. That's when it got down to 19% or whatever with 10 hours SoT. So yes I could have had 35 hours of SoT. I was just proving a point that these numbers mean next to nothing.

My battery is actually not that good and getting worse.
